Go for a Walk on a Beautiful Beach

Driving north from Cairns you will come across many fantastic beaches that only locals and few lucky tourists will stumble across. The highway follows the coastline so as you head north turn-offs to the right will head towards beaches some are better then others, but don't be afraid to take some time out and explore a few of them. These beaches often have local burger or fish & chip shops offer a more reasonable alternate.

Enjoy the Wet Season

The wet season brings on some heavy rains and is a great time of the year for having a beer and watching the warm rains of the north or going for a drive and looking at the many waterfalls. A great place to go and see during this time is the Barron River Hydroelectric power plant.
